SYCAMORE SERVICES RECOGNIZES DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS WEEK, SEPTEMBER 9-15
Sycamore Services, Inc., provides a wide variety of services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, physical impairments and other challenges. Approximately 200 of Sycamore Services’ staff members work as Direct Support Professionals (DSP). These dedicated team members provide one-on-one services to individuals who rely on their support for daily tasks, including residential care, transportation, day and community services, employment services, respite care and more.
Governor Eric Holcomb has proclaimed September 9-15 as Direct Support Professionals Week, stating that “…every day, Indiana’s direct support professionals make a tremendous difference in the lives of people with disabilities, strengthening our communities and supporting our most vulnerable citizens, for which they deserve our respect and deepest admiration…”
Sycamore Services, Inc., is honoring its DSPs this week by highlighting success stories and saying thank you for a job well done. “DSPs work on the front lines of our organization and their job is never easy,” says Sycamore Services CEO, Patrick Cockrum. “The individuals we serve face immense challenges but, because of the tireless work of our DSPs, those challenges are not insurmountable. We appreciate their care and compassion and thank them for their service.”
DSPs play an important role in helping individuals with disabilities increase their level of independence and build ties in the community. Their jobs can be physically and emotionally challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. DSPs help individuals meet goals in order to realize their dreams. Their contributions to our communities, and especially the individuals they serve, should not be overlooked. Please take a moment to thank the DSPs for their service and dedication to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities.
Sycamore Services continues its celebration of Direct Support Professionals Week by spotlighting another fantastic DSP:
